Laurie Jean & Rose bio picture
  • Hi, and welcome to Laurie Jean & Rose. My name is Lauren, and I have been photographing newborns since 2010 in the NW Atlanta area and all over! My love affair with newborn photography began shortly after the birth of my youngest son, when I missed the window for my son’s sleepy newborn photos due to my photographer canceling on me at the last minute. Unfortunately I didn’t get any sleepy posed shots of him, but so began my interest and love for newborn photography.

    I am completely self-taught, and have photographed over 1,000 newborns over the last near decade. My goal is that you find our session an enjoyable experience, are completely relaxed, and love your newborn photos for many years to come. I prefer to focus on timeless images with simple props vs. the latest gimmick. 80’s clothes and hair, anyone? Okay, that era was actually pretty awesome, but let’s keep the baby photos fresh.

    Hope to hear from you!

    xoxo Lauren

Daniel Makes Sara A Big Sister {Lawrenceville Kennesaw Atlanta Newborn Photographer}

I photographed little (or should I say, BIG – he was 10 pounds, 7 ounces!!) Daniel’s big sister Sara in May 2012. One of her pictures was pretty popular and floated around the web and was featured by Best Newborn Photographers. Daniel was such a chubby newborn! He was so precious!

Mom really loved this bucket and wanted to use it, and I was so glad she did. I just bought it a couple of days ago…a great find. I made the hat just a few minutes before they arrived, and the hat and bucket go so perfectly together. ADORE this setup, and I think it is my favorite setup now! If I ever have another baby, and it’s a boy, I will definitely be using this. <333

More to share coming soon, including one of Daniel with big sister Sara!  :)

Sandy Springs Cake Smash {Marietta Kennesaw Atlanta Child Photographer}

I’m falling asleep literally as I post this, so hopefully there won’t be any editing regrets on my part in the morning :)
This baby was a referral, and I traveled to their beautiful home for the pix. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a baby tear into cupcake or a cake quite like he did. I thought that mom would set him down, and then he would sort of poke at the icing and lick his fingers. I was very wrong. He went to town and demolished the cake. :) Doesn’t he have the most beautiful, big brown eyes? Long eyelashes, too! So jealous. I used to have long ones back in the day.

Pumpkin Patch Tales {Woodstock Marietta Child Photographer}

Dislaimer: Ignore the horrible lighting. There was traffic, and we got to the patch not long before dark.

So, I took my boys to the pumpkin patch yesterday and wanted to share a pic with you all. I plan on sharing many more in a few days once I edit them, but I couldn’t wait. This picture is pretty much how the entire visit went. This is my youngest son’s signature picture look, apparently. If you watch the slideshow up top, you will see him making this disgusted, what-you-lookin-at face just as he is making it in this photo. My oldest is pretty good, but still hard to photograph because he doesn’t follow directions all too well, and my middle son is just adorable. He pretty much does exactly what he needs to do when it comes to me taking his picture.

I really wanted a shot of them all smiling and laughing, and I did get several of those, but this picture makes me smile the most…this is who my little boy really is. <3

MORE TO COME :)

Princess Mia :) {Dunwoody, Atlanta, Marietta Newborn Photographer}

I photographed this sweetheart’s beautiful mom last month for her maternity photos. I was really excited to meet little Mia. She looks almost just like her mom! So sweet :)

I traveled to Mia’s beautiful home for her newborn session, something I don’t do often. I packed up tons of blankets and headbands and hats for her session, along with all of my lighting and other equipment. Needless to say, it was a lot of work, but the sweet pix and holding baby Mia made it all worth it! Plus, her mom wants to do my Baby Plan, so I will get to see her frequently until her first birthday! I love it when parents sign up for the baby plan. I love all the newborns I photograph, but there’s just something special about photographing a baby inside the womb and then watching them grow up. It’s definitely bittersweet!

Funny enough, Mia’s parents also wanted a picture of her with a football. We took it at the end, and we had to fight her a bit because she is STRONG and kept breaking out of her wrap. She was wide awake and gave us some pretty scary faces that made mom and I laugh hysterically, but you work with what you’ve got :) That one was the least “scared baby” look we got from her. Maybe she is trying to say she doesn’t like the Falcons. Dad will probably want to kill me for saying that. Haha :)

Alexa, 7 Days New {Atlanta, Kennesaw, Marietta Newborn Photographer}

Oh, Miss Alexa! She was SO beautiful! Her mom contacted me just a few days ago and explained that Alexa had arrived early, and she hadn’t had time to book a newborn photography session. I couldn’t say no, and so Alexa came to me today for her newborn session. She was so good! She really didn’t give me any problems during her newborn session. Alexa is the first baby for her mom, and she is so loved!

Today I got a large shipment from a prop vendor on Etsy — wishuponastR. She sent me the most amazing things. There were tons of newborn wraps and headbands and backdrops! Forget pink! She is Pretty in Purple! ;)

Dad is also a huge Patriots fan, so we got some cute shots of her with a shirt of his and a football I happened to have lying around. Can’t wait to see if he likes those. Will post more of this beauty tomorrow! This photographer is worn out! Whew!
