Laurie Jean & Rose bio picture
  • Hi, and welcome to Laurie Jean & Rose. My name is Lauren, and I have been photographing newborns since 2010 in the NW Atlanta area and all over! My love affair with newborn photography began shortly after the birth of my youngest son, when I missed the window for my son’s sleepy newborn photos due to my photographer canceling on me at the last minute. Unfortunately I didn’t get any sleepy posed shots of him, but so began my interest and love for newborn photography.

    I am completely self-taught, and have photographed over 1,000 newborns over the last near decade. My goal is that you find our session an enjoyable experience, are completely relaxed, and love your newborn photos for many years to come. I prefer to focus on timeless images with simple props vs. the latest gimmick. 80’s clothes and hair, anyone? Okay, that era was actually pretty awesome, but let’s keep the baby photos fresh.

    Hope to hear from you!

    xoxo Lauren

Rose Sneak Peek {Atlanta Newborn Marietta Newborn Photography}

Rose was 12 days old when we did her newborn session. Her mom and dad almost decided not to get newborn photos, but I am glad that they did! I always want to tell people: You cannot go back and get them later if you decide you made a mistake in not getting them done. As a mom of 3 boys who were all born before this particular type of newborn photography really became an essential on many moms’ lists, it saddens me I didn’t get these types of photos with my own boys. Back in 2004 when my oldest was done, this style of newborn photography was really just beginning to become popular, and it was something so few people did that it was prohibitively expensive, and mostly just wealthy people were able to cope with the costs. When my second son was born, it was a little more common, but it was still very pricy. By the time I had my third son, it was really starting to gain popularity, but at that time I wasn’t able to get them done within the first two weeks as I didn’t realize the importance of that, so the shots I ended up with by another photographer were not sleepy, curly poses, which I so wish I had gotten! So while it pains me in a way that I don’t have these photos of my own boys, I am glad that I can create these photos for other moms to enjoy forever!

Rose was a beautiful, chunky, squishy newborn (my favorite!). I just love her smile, don’t you!? Her grandpa and grandma sat in during the session as well, and grandpa was a product photographer for 20ish years, so we had a fun chat about photography! :)

Jack Sneak Peek {Atlanta Marietta Newborn Alpharetta Photographer}

OH.MY.HEART! <3 Jack had the most BEAUTIFUL head full of hair I have seen in a very long time. His newborn session was quite eventful. He was one HUNGRY little guy and demanded to eat every 20 minutes, it seemed :) He just really loved his milk, I guess! ;) But we got some great shots.

Jack had the most beautiful newborn skin as well. He was not red, yellow, orange…just beautiful creamy newborn skin…no color adjustments needed in editing this newborn!

I LOVE how the family shot turned out. You can really tell how much this baby is loved. And…do I even need to say how much I love the shot of him looking at me? *So* sweet!

Austin Sneak Peek {Atlanta Marietta Kennesaw Newborn Baby Photographer}

Austin was so sweet! He has such great parents, and he’s a perfect combination of both of them! With mom’s nose and dad’s eyes, he is an adorable combination of them :)

Austin gave us a little fight during his session, but overall he did well, and we got some great shots. They didn’t want mom or dad shots and wanted the focus to be ALL on little Austin, so he was the sole star of his newborn session :) He had the silkiest and most amazing hair and a beautiful skin tone. I could have snuggled with him all day :)

I loved capturing this little man for his mom and dad, and I hope to see him again soon! :)

Jack Sneak Peek {Cumming, Atlanta, Marietta Newborn Photographer}

Ohhh, baby Jack was SO adorable. He was premature, so he didn’t get his newborn photos done right away, but he was perfect for his session! He hardly gave me an issue :) Editing Jack’s pix was such a treat, because most newborns have red, yellow, or orange skin, but he had perfect skin tone, probably attributed to the fact that he is weeks old now. :)

Jack’s mom is from my home state, South Carolina. Mom and Dad met at a party through a mutual friend, and she drove up nearly every weekend for a year to be with Jack’s dad before they got engaged. I just love sweet stories like that! And now little Jack is here and totally perfect!

We got a really good variety with Jack’s newborn photography session, and I hope to see him again soon and watch him grow! :)

Vorwig Family Sneak Peek {Smyrna, Marietta, Atlanta Family Photographer}

Wow! I had so much fun with this family. A couple of months ago a sweet woman from Maryland contacted me and told me she just had to have me take pix of her large family when she came to town at Christmastime. It was very important to her to get some photos of the entire family with her mother, and I couldn’t resist her request — even at Christmas. I could tell that the photos would be very precious to her, so I couldn’t decline and decided to make it work during the busy holiday time.

I took a billion photos of them all together to make SURE that I got everyone smiling and looking their best. I’m happy to report I only had to do 2 head swaps on the photo of the entire family together, and I couldn’t be more pleased with it. I absolutely love it, and I almost teared up editing it while listening to some of my favorite songs. Seeing this family all together and happy and knowing how much this photo will mean to all of them in the years and even decades to come really makes my job so worth it. Sometimes photography can be monotonous and very routine, and sometimes I forget that while not all clients truly value photography that most of these photos that I take will be priceless and treasured.

I decided to hold off on posting any more of the indoor family shots so that they have some surprises! But WOW…that photo of Kylie on the swing stopped me in my tracks. I couldn’t decide whether I liked it in color or black and white more. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! So beautiful!
