Laurie Jean & Rose bio picture
  • Hi, and welcome to Laurie Jean & Rose. My name is Lauren, and I have been photographing newborns since 2010 in the NW Atlanta area and all over! My love affair with newborn photography began shortly after the birth of my youngest son, when I missed the window for my son’s sleepy newborn photos due to my photographer canceling on me at the last minute. Unfortunately I didn’t get any sleepy posed shots of him, but so began my interest and love for newborn photography.

    I am completely self-taught, and have photographed over 1,000 newborns over the last near decade. My goal is that you find our session an enjoyable experience, are completely relaxed, and love your newborn photos for many years to come. I prefer to focus on timeless images with simple props vs. the latest gimmick. 80’s clothes and hair, anyone? Okay, that era was actually pretty awesome, but let’s keep the baby photos fresh.

    Hope to hear from you!

    xoxo Lauren

Creed Spring Sneak Peek {Jonesboro Photographer Atlanta Baby Photographer Marietta}

Oh, Creed! Creed’s daddy is an ER doctor, and I think Creed may just be headed for a similar path. He’s such a smart, alert little baby! I did his newborn photos, and I was so excited to see him again and see how much he has grown! Grandma came along this time, and we got some cute outdoor shots of Creed! He smiled quite a lot for me.

We did these photos at Kennesaw Mountain. I love his little outfit. Unfortunately they had cut down a tree that I planned to incorporate into his session, but we still got some great shots. Mom actually surprised me with a bag of Easter goodies for my own boys! Cotton candy and chocolate…how sweet of her! <3 Can’t wait to see Creed again.

Amelia Sneak Peek {Atlanta Baby Marietta Newborn Baby Alpharetta Photographer}

Amelia is SO precious! She’s so smiley and happy, but she made us work outside a bit as it was chilly. She just turned 6 months, and her little smile is to die for :) AND she has my favorite girl name! I love the name Amelia, and it suits her so well.

I love babies at this age. Her mom and I were talking about the hardest age to photograph, and it’s my personal opinion that anything 2-1/2 weeks to 3 months is very difficult to photograph, unless you’re doing lifestyle shots in the client’s home. At 2-1/2 weeks-3 months of age, babies don’t do much, and it’s a struggle to get that eye contact with the camera. Their little arms and legs also like to flail around, and they can easily break out of wraps and swaddling blankets. Basically all you are going to get is perhaps different expressions, but don’t expect much variety other than the classic “cheerio” face, an occasional startled look, and maybe a smile or two.

But photographing a 6-month-old is so much fun, because they make eye contact, smile, can usually sit up, are good on their tummies, etc. They really interact with you! Little Amelia wasn’t too enthused outdoors because of the chill, but she gave lots of smiles inside. I wanted to keep her…and she already has the perfect name…!

Lily Sneak Peek {Dunwoody Atlanta Photographer Marietta Newborn Photographer}

What a lucky little girl! Daddy is a doctor, and mom is a pharmacist! I had a cute little surgeon’s cap left over from a session in 2012 that was made for a little boy whose parents are both doctors, so it was fun to use it again, and maybe I’ll share that pic soon!

Lily was 13 days old when we did her session. She was an absolute doll! She slept the entire time, aside from me handing her off to mom to have her eat before the frog pose.

She had a head full of GORGEOUS dark hair, and she had the most perfect little features. She was really a great baby during her newborn session, especially considering she was three days past when I like to photograph. I just love her against Daddy’s blue shirt! So beautiful!

Can’t wait to finish editing her pix!

Shanika Maternity Sneak Peek {Atlanta Smyrna Maternity Photographer Marietta Alpharetta Photography}

Wow! We had some gorgeous morning light during Shanika’s maternity session, and with the dress she chose and the scenery, I felt like I was in the middle of a safari!

Waking up and heading out early on a Saturday morning for a session is not my favorite thing (not a morning person!), but I LOVE morning light, and it’s it’s always worth waking up for. It’s my personal opinion that morning sessions go better anyways as you can start right after sunrise and get some beautifully lit shots immediately versus evening when you start and get the best lighting right at the end, and then the light is gone. With morning sessions, the light is best right at sunrise, but it’s still great and favorable for shooting beyond that if you want to continue.

Shanika looks beautiful pregnant, and this is their first baby. We had some laughs during the session, and I love the emotion I captured between them. I can’t wait to photograph their sweet baby when he’s here!
